Alexandra Stone is an independent UK producer heading Streetcar Productions. She recently produced La Cigüena by Dominican filmmaker Alejandro Andújar. Previous producing credits include: Paul Auster’s In The Country of Last Things; C5/All3 Media series, The Drowning; Suzi Ewing’s 10X10 with Luke Evans and Kelly Reilly; David Mackenzie’s award-winning Young Adam starring Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton; Menhaj Huda’s Kidulthood; Richard Linklater’s Fast Food Nation starring Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette; and Gerald McMorrow’s Franklyn with Eva Green.
Stone’s current slate includes Emily Atef’s Mercy starring Denise Gough, which begins pre-production autumn 2024, and projects at Searchlight Pictures and MUBI, as well as with filmmakers Shekhar Kapur and Camille Griffin.
Prior to Streetcar, Stone headed development for fifteen years at Jeremy Thomas’ Recorded Picture Company and HanWay Films, overseeing projects with filmmakers including Bernardo Bertolucci, David Mackenzie, Terry Gilliam, Jonathan Glazer, Harmony Korine, Sarah Polley, Phillip Noyce, and David Cronenberg.
Before Recorded Picture Company, Stone was director of development at Paula Weinstein’s Warner Bros.-based company, Spring Creek Productions in Los Angeles, where she worked with screenwriters and directors including Peter Weir, Lasse Hallstrom, Steve Kloves, Callie Khouri, Rafael Yglesias, and Euzhan Palcy.
Stone began her career in production as a producer’s assistant on studio films including The Fabulous Baker Boys, A Fish Called Wanda, A Dry White Season, and Old Gringo.
